Illuminate the Wow Creative Studios
I never considered myself an artist. I have only ever wanted to shine a light on the beauty all around us (“Illuminate the wow”) through writing, photographs and the spiritual legacy of pysanky.
And yet for years, friends (and students) have “hired” me to photograph their special life events, create personal commissioned pysanky, and contribute poetry to publications. This online presence is a creative studio to streamline these requests.
I have been writing pysanky for over 30 years, learning the art form from ancestors of the Slavic (Rusyn) region of the Carpathian Mountains.
While I teach classes on the writing of a traditional pysanky (ancient Ukrainian wax-resist eggs featuring symbolic, geometric, and nature-based folk motifs dyed in specific, traditional color sequences), I often use the same wax-and-dye method, to create free-form, abstract, or personalized art, which often also contain the traditional cultural, protective, or ritualistic symbols found in authentic Pysanky.
In addition to classes and commission work in Pysanky, I love capturing the beauty of nature and people through photography, and have a portfolio of wedding, portrait, landscape, and events showcasing how I see the world. I also show my love for beauty in poetry and writing, and have been known to share love through my crazy fish doodles…
These diverse creative offerings give me multiple ways to help you “Illuminate your ‘WOW.’”
PYSANKY
Interested in learning more about Pysanky? I can help! I offer private beginner to advanced classes and resources. And I often teach at ArtFarm in Annapolis, Chestertown River Arts, and throughout the Baltimore-Annapolis area.

Other creative pursuits
As a creative and curious person who loves the sweet spot of where science and art, or magic and the mundane, intersect….I dabble in other pursuits, too. You can find out more about where I’m published and what’s in my doodle pad here….
